Texas is a western state in the United States. Sheldon moved to Pasadena from East Texas to begin his career.

Sheldon often exhibits his Texas upbringing occasionally with his accent, actions and the fact that Jim Parsons is also from Texas. He is seen back at home three times. Once he runs home after being humiliated in "The Electric Can Opener Fluctuation" and during a surprise visit home in "The Mommy Observation". In the "The Holiday Summation", Amy and Sheldon visit Mary at Christmastime.
Texas is the second most populous state and second in area. The state was originally occupied by Native Americans, followed by the Spanish, the Mexicans, just the Texans and then it was annexed by the U.S. After joining the Confederacy in the Civil War, the state became a source of cattle and the development of the cowboy followed by an oil boom in the twentieth century.
