Ms. Sheryl Hutchins is the Librarian of Medford High School in the series spinoff Young Sheldon. Ms. Hutchins is one of the few staff members at Medford High School who seems to like Sheldon. She can often be found complaining about how lonely she is.
Character overview[]
Ms. Hutchins first appeared in "Rockets, Communists, and the Dewey Decimal System." She asks Sheldon how he is doing and asks him if he wants a book on quantum mechanics, astronomy, or any other science subjects. Sheldon tells her that he needs a book on how to make friends. She finds a book on how to make friends and gives the book to Sheldon. She says the book will definitely help him make a friend.
She later appears in "Demons, Sunday School, and Prime Numbers" where Sheldon and Tam are in the library and Sheldon asks her what her religion is, she tells Sheldon that she is a Mormon and that when she dies, she has to go to her husband's planet. But she doesn't have a boyfriend, let alone a husband, she assumes she'll go to her cat's planet. Sheldon says she is funny. Sheldon presumably still pays a visit to the school library to read science books, hang out with Tam during lunch, and talk to Ms. Hutchins about new science books that see in the library.
She visits the sidelines of a Medford High football game at the recommendation of her therapist. While talking to George, she is tackled by a player and severely injured. The rest of the Coopers take her in and look after her, while also feeding her cats.(A Couple Bruised Ribs and a Cereal Box Ghost Detector)
Sheryl finally gets involved in a relationship. Unfortunately, it's a forbidden relationship with Hubert Givens, who is the school Science teacher and so it must be kept a secret. Georgie discovers them together as he hides in the copy room while trying to make copies of Sheldon's old school assignments. (A Box of Treasure and the Meemaw of Science)
She worked at a bookstore when she saw Georgie come in and look for books. She was asked if there were any books on relationships, and she gave him one. (Diet Crap)
