After taken to the local police station, his case is handled by an Officer Hernandez. While Sheldon sits in front of the officer's desk, Sheldon doesn't feel that he is concentrating enough on finding his possessions. Sheldon lectures him on the detective methods of Sherlock Holmes. "Eliminate all other factors, and the one which remains must be the truth." Sheldon asks him if he has tried that to which the officer says that he hasn't. Sheldon tells him that maybe he should since there have been a lot of books named Sherlock Holmes and none named after him. Later Sheldon suggests that he try using cocaine to sharpen his mind like Sherlock Holmes did. Then looking at the officer's snack he hopes that his Cool Ranch Doritos will do just as well.

Background[]

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle who considered himself a "consulting detective" whose astute logical reasoning and his use of science allowed him to solve the most difficult crimes. He originally appeared in the novel, "A Study in Scarlet" in 1887 and was featured in four novels and 56 short stories in "The Strand Magazine" through 1927. The stories were described by Holmes, friend, roommate and companion, Dr. John H. Watson. At one time killed off by the author, going over Reichenbach Falls in Switzerland with archenemy Professor Moriarty, he was brought back due to the detective's popularity. Since his creation, Sherlock Holmes has appeared in stage plays, movies, radio, television and other author's works.
