Peg is a character in Young Sheldon. She served as personal secretary for Pastor Jeff Difford. She is elderly and is a heavy coffee drinker and smoker. She was portrayed by Nancy Linehan Charles.

Biography[]

Peg is working at the church. Mary comes in and asks if Jeff is busy or available. She calls into Jeff’s office and is told Mary can come in. She then wheezes from smoking her cigarettes. (Potato Salad, a Broomstick, and Dad's Whiskey)

One day, Mary Cooper visits, and she was there waiting for Jeff to finish. She then sends her in after he is able to meet people. (A Crisis of Faith and Octopus Aliens)

For Halloween, she is in Jeff's office with a VHS and TV, showing a local TV interview about Hell House. (Seven Deadly Sins and a Small Carl Sagan)

One day, when Jeff was sick, she was outside typing on a typewriter, while smoking a cigarette. When Mary comes, she agrees while Jeff coughs. She lets her in. (A Math Emergency and Perky Palms)

She was greeted by Mary one morning and immediately let her in to Jeff's office, without a small delay. (A Broken Heart and a Crock Monster)

Peg told George Cooper Jr. that on June 14, 1945, the man she loved came home from the war with syphilis and infected her. But she shacked up with him anyway because she had gotten pregnant by someone else. She also slept for a time on her cousin Arlene's couch, which was in her yard. (A Parasol and a Hell of an Arm)

One day, she read in a newspaper that Texas passed a law to adopt catalytic converters in cars. She said she hated California. (A Slump, a Cross and Roadside Gravel)

She is summoned to the Jeff's office where she is told about his new child. She offers to have Mary and herself take on some new responsibilities after Jeff has some time off. When Mary asks her to do something, she tells him to acknowledge that Mary is not the “boss around here” when Jeff is away. Later, she is doing crosswords when Mary comes in and wanted to do more things; Peg is not happy because she is used to be the one doing things in the church. She says Mary think thinks she is better than everybody. (The Wild and Woolly World of Nonlinear Dynamics)

One day, Peg is coughing a lot because of her condition. She was working with Mary and talking about things while looking at documents. When she looked at the church bulletin, she immediately asked why Medford Wash is being advertised. She tells Mary it has a front for a backroom illegal casino operation and had lost $40 the night before. (Money Laundering and a Cascade of Hormones)

Mary came to pitch some makeup, but Peg refused. (A Pink Cadillac and a Glorious Tribal Dance)

Upon hearing the news of George Cooper Sr.’s death, Peg makes a food item in her casserole and gives it to Mary. (Funeral)
