John Ross Bowie, born on May 30, 1971 (aged 47), in New York City, is an American actor and comedian, best known for his role of playing Barry Kripke. He plays Jimmy DiMeo in Speechless. Bowie has also appeared in commercials for Progressive and appeared in the film What The Bleep Do We Know? opposite Marlee Matlin.
Before his minor acting career, he was in a rock band called Egghead along with Mike Faloon and Michael M.B. Galvin.
John has had a part or multiple parts in the series Good Luck Charlie, Retired at 35, House of Lies, Children's Hospital, The Mighty B!, Reno 911!, A.U.S.A. and Upright Citizens Brigade.
John is married to comedian Jamie Denbo, and together they have two children, a son and a daughter.
He is a very close friend of co-star Kevin Sussman, who plays Stuart Bloom on The Big Bang Theory. They met on the set of Ugly Betty, where Sussman played the character of Walter, and Bowie's wife knew one of the actresses. Together they have written three TV pilots together, one of which (Dark Minions) was picked up by Amazon in 2013. Both provided voices for the main characters in the pilot.
