Ghostbusters is an American supernatural comedy franchise created in 1984, about a group of scientists teaming up to investigate and capture ghosts and other supernatural phenomenon in New York City. The franchise consists of films (1984's Ghostbusters, 1989's Ghostbusters II, the 2016 female-led reboot/reimagining Ghostbusters, and 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife) and several animated television series.

  • In "The Focus Attenuation," Sheldon brought up an error from the 1984 Ghostbusters, saying that the experiment performed by Bill Murray's character Dr. Peter Venkman was mistakenly described as negative reinforcement, when it actually involved positive punishment.
  • The guys have twice expressed their dislike of Ghostbusters II.
  • Actress Annie Potts, who starred in Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II and had a cameo appearance (as a different character) in the 2016 Ghostbusters, portrays Meemaw on Young Sheldon.
