Dilip is the grandfather of Raj, Priya, Adoot, Raj and Priya's other siblings and possibly Venkatesh. He is mentioned in "The Table Polarization" (S7E16) when Howard and Rajesh Koothrappali are discussing whether or not Howard should go up to outer space again and Raj says he'd be happy to look in on Bernadette while he's gone and that if anything was to happen to Howard, Raj jokes that he and Bernadette will name their first born son Howard, but then he stops kidding and says that they will name him Dilip, after Raj's grandfather.

- In "The Griffin Equivalency" (S2E04), Raj mentions that his grandfather grew up in a house smaller than a limo. It is unknown if this grandfather was Dilip. Raj Also said he has a cousin with the same name.
